What 3D Printing Means for Mountain Communities

Living in the mountains means being resourceful. When something breaks, you can't just run to Home Depot — the nearest one is over an hour away, and if you need a specific part, you might be waiting a week for shipping.

That's where 3D printing comes in.

Print It Instead of Ordering It

Last month, a customer came in with a broken plastic latch from their woodstove. The manufacturer wanted $45 plus shipping for the part, with a 2-week lead time. We printed a replacement in PLA for a fraction of the cost, and it was ready the next day.

That's a small example, but it adds up. Broken appliance knobs, cracked equipment brackets, missing clips and fasteners — these are all things we can print locally instead of ordering from somewhere far away.

What We Can Print

If it exists as a 3D file, we can print it. Common requests include:

  • Replacement parts for appliances and equipment
  • Custom mounts for electronics and cameras
  • Raspberry Pi cases and project enclosures
  • Cable management solutions
  • Custom brackets for specific setups

Don't Have a File?

No problem. There are massive libraries of free 3D designs online (Thingiverse, Printables, MakerWorld), and we can help you find what you need. If it doesn't exist yet, we can connect you with a designer who can create it.
